A Note from the Pastor

Dear Friend,

People are always asking me why we started Redeemer Church. I usually respond in one of three ways. First, I believe strongly that this generation hungers to worship God with reverence and awe. For many of us, worship has become too casual. We have lost the sense of God's holiness and majesty.   With so much uncertainty around us, we long to know a big God who is in control and worthy of our worship. But this does not mean we forget to worship in joy. In fact, understanding God's holiness makes the joy we feel in Christ so much more meaningful. The grace of Christ only has meaning in light of God's holiness.

Second, it is my conviction that this generation longs to be challenged, not just entertained. To this end, it is our goal to preach challenging, but accessible, sermons from God's Word. In the end, it is His Word that changes us. It is our goal to keep the Gospel message at the center of all we do. Observing the Lord's Supper every week also helps us experience the Gospel.

Finally, I believe that this generation wants to be part of a community where the Gospel really does change lives. We want a Gospel that truly frees us from our shame and addictions and compels us to live it out in every area of our lives. We are tired of the hypocrisy in our own lives and the lives of others. We want authentic community, where no one hides from themselves or others, where the only place people hide is in the grace of Jesus.

Peace,

Jim Belcher
